|TelForce Group is looking for a Fixed Network Senior Fiber Architect in Central America.
The Senior Fixed Network Fiber Architect defines and evolves the fixed broadband network architecture, the fixed broadband services architecture and the transport network architecture. He (She) is the expert regarding fixed broadband networks and transport networks within the organization and advises the board on a strategic level. He (She) is also the expert sparring partner for senior management, and vendors and is also responsible for managing the realization of the performance goals.
In addition, the senior architect is responsible for the planning and engineering of the fixed broadband network including (but not limited to) Outside Plant (copper, fiber optic and coaxial/HFC), active network elements and associated supporting OSS systems. This regards the physical cabling and supporting infrastructure (such as conduit, cabinets or poles), active equipment such as MSAN’s and GPON nodes, and any associated hardware located between a demarcation point at the backbone transmission network and a demarcation point at the customer premises. This also includes the associated planning/engineering/registration systems, interfacing to other IT systems such as billing and provisioning, OSS systems and any systems required to manage the CPE’s.
He (She) will plan the SW and HW lifecycle from the introduction of new networks until the phase-out of old networks and ensure that the connection to the demarcation point at the transmission backbone or customer premises are working in conformity with given standards.
Fixed Network Senior Fiber Architect Description:
• Defines and evolves end-to-end high-level architecture and roadmap for the fixed network
o Plans and engineers the fixed broadband blueprint specifications
o Makes the 5-year technical plan; defines strategy and high-level program steps and program outcomes for reaching blueprint (based on delta between current technical situation and blueprint)
o Plans the SW and HW lifecycle from the introduction of new networks until the phase-out of old networks
o Leads high-level design activities both internal and external with vendors
o Provides guidance to low-level design activities to assure they are in line with the high-level design
o Provides full e2e diagrams for all fixed broadband services e2e (Fixed MO, MT, Data, Ethernet services, IP services, wave-length services, etc.)
• Defines and manages standards, guidelines and principles to be used by the client
o Defines standards, guidelines and principles
o Ensures the correct use of standards, guidelines and principles (and exceptions) by the client
o Analyses and defines actions based upon reports provided by Network Engineering and Network
o Operations with respect to issues when standards, guidelines and principles are not followed, when the fixed broadband network and/or the transport network is not performing up to specification and when there are structural capacity issues
• Alignment and communication:
o Advises board and senior management on strategic topics regarding fixed networks
o Is as expert involved in discussions and negotiations with authorities, partners and vendors.
o Interacts with Marketing & Sales with respect to future demand and roadmaps
o Interacts with other architects to coordinate areas of overlap such as for example IMS use for fixed services and transport services for the mobile network
o Interacts with program managers with respect to network deployment/roll-out
o Prepares the CAPEX/OPEX component of the client’s business cases for fixed network.
o Prepares trade-offs between Total Cost of Ownership and Key Performance Indicators
o Prepares and submits all relevant reports to CTO level
o Coordinates Engineering resources with the General Manager Network Engineering
o Primarily responsible for the fixed broadband network architecture, the KPI’s achievable and the overall capacity.
Fixed Network Senior Fiber Architect Qualifications:
• Master Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunication or equivalent experience.
• Preferred 7+ year network architecture experience in the Fixed Broadband part of a carrier.
• Preferred 5+ years of solid experience in and/or understanding of mobile networking including:
o Outside plant
o Data Networking: VPN, MPLS, TCP/IP, SBC, SIP trunks.
o Transmission networks both FO and MW.
o Experience with interfacing fixed broadband networks to OSS and billing and provisioning systems.
o IP network optimization
o Network security
• Ability to justify design, build, and buy decisions using solid financial analysis (e.g., ROI).
• Excellent Supervisory and Leadership skills, including mentoring and guiding personnel.
• Strong verbal and written communication and reporting skills, particularly in English.
• Communicates and works well with all levels and disciplines in the organization.
• Ability to prioritize and execute in a high-pressure environment.
