Are you interested in the field of Telecom surveying, LiDAR and mapping? Does taking precise measurements and accurately recording data about the Earth fascinate you? Our firm is seeking a surveying technician to travel from site to site, across the nation, as part of a 12-person survey party, working outdoors. This entry-level job will take you off the beaten path all over USA. You will learn the ins and outs of surveying and basic mapping skills under the direction of experienced surveyors. If you are detail-oriented, have a background in computer science, math or mechanical drawing, this may be the position for you.
Job Responsibilities
* Field data collection for Fiber (FTTH) projects.
* Take pole data with Ike, Katapult technologies / measuring wheel, and stick Record pole number, pole measurement, measurement of sidewalk, edge of the pavement, road dimensions * Search, locate and recover existing survey markers, mile markers, and property irons, and set out stakes and other markers * Compile and verify preexisting data from photographs, previous surveys, maps, deeds, legal descriptions, and other sources * Record data using electronic devices, image-capturing software, drawings, and detailed notes, and double-check for accuracy * Inventory and maintain equipment for use by the survey party, including vehicles, electronics, and brush-cutting tools * Use a plotter to accurately plot data and Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) software to create technical drawings for topographical and boundary surveys * Work in collaboration with other members of the survey party, taking direction from the lead surveyor and instructing and assisting subordinates but working independently when needed
