Job Description:
Delaware County Community College, a competency-based institution, committed to diversity invites applications for a Telecom & Network Technician at our Marple campus.

The Telecom & Network Technician is responsible for the maintaining and improving of the College's telecommunications systems. The position is a hands-on position, administering, building, documenting, configuring, deploying, and supporting telecom systems and devices utilized across the College.

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to installing, testing, maintaining, and repairing telecom systems and devices; Completes work order request forms for service on voice and data communication equipment in a timely fashion; Performs routine diagnostics and installation of wiring closets, circuits and communication cabling consisting of category 3/5/6 and fiber optic infrastructure; Work with vendors to prepare and perform system upgrades; Assists with, or performs programming of various voice and data communication equipment ranging from existing or new PBX systems, call accounting, contact center, voice mail, ACD, and support of voice key systems; Document and maintain the telecom systems environment for operational and planning purposes; Provide level III technical support for telecom systems administration and complex telephony issues; Participates in all aspects of telecom systems monitoring to identify potential issues and proactively recommend and apply corrective action; Creates user training documentation, prioritizes and provides user training, as well as additional information necessary for the proper use of telecommunications equipment; Prioritizes work responsibilities appropriately and completes tasks within deadlines under minimal supervision; Informs management about problems or obstacles that may impact deliverables and makes recommendations to mitigate impact; Coordinate telecom projects, including planning, execution and coordination with vendors and suppliers; Act as principal contact for telephone carrier services for coordinate repairs, new service and migrations; Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems and participate in an on-call rotation; Other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate must have an Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering (or equivalent experience); Minimum of two years working in IT Helpdesk, managing servers/networks, or working with telecom equipment; Ability to learn various voice and data communications equipment and systems; Experience with troubleshooting and deploying IP phones; Establish and maintain effective and appropriate working relationships; Strong creative and analytical problem solving skills for design and testing of complex systems; Proven track record of being a change agent who demonstrates bias to be proactive rather than reactive; Communicate in an effective and professional way with customers and colleagues; Excellent writing and technical documentation skills; Ability to lift and move 40+ lbs, work on step ladder and use power tools; Must be able to travel to off-campuses as required. (Must have car and valid driver’s license). Desired Skills/Knowledge/Experience: 2 or more years of experience with Nortel/Avaya telecommunications systems preferred; Experience with Nortel CS1000/ Avaya CM / AAM / AACC preferred; Experience with Windows Server/VMWare/Linux preferred.

Salary: A minimum starting salary of $40,000 (16A) and a comprehensive and competitive fringe benefit package are provided.
