Job Description:
The Director will oversee the development and implementation of human resource policies, programs and services, including employee relations, employment practices, compensation and benefits, recruitment and orientation, training and development, retention, legal compliance and procedures and employee communications. A medical supply manufacturer seeks a Human Resource Director to provide overall strategic resource leadership to the organization.  The Director will oversee the development and implementation of human resource policies, programs and services, including employee relations, employment practices, compensation and benefits, recruitment and orientation, training and development, retention, legal compliance and procedures and employee communications.Essential functions:Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization’s human resource function and performance.Participate in the development of the organization’s plans and programs as a strategic partner but particularly from the perspective of the impact on peopleTranslate the strategic and tactical business plans into HR strategic and operational plans.Formulate and recommend HR policies and objectives for the whole organization.  Develop appropriate policies and programs for effective management of people resources of the organization.  Included in this area but not limited only to the following:  employee relations, affirmative action, sexual harassment, employee complaints, external education and career development.Identify legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting HR function (EEO, AAP, Wage & Hour).  Monitor exposure of the company.  Direct the preparation of information requested or required for compliance.  Approve all information submitted.  Act as primary contact with labor counsel and outside government agencies.Direct a process of organizational planning that evaluates structure, job design and manpowerforecasting through the company.  Coordinates activities across division lines.  Evaluates plans and changes to plans.  Makes recommendations to executive management.Establishes wage and salary structure, pay policies, performance appraisal programs, employee benefit programs and services and company safety and health programs.Develop progressive and proactive compensation and benefit programs to provide motivation, incentives and rewards for effective performance and to provide programs which utilize an employee and company partnership.Develop human resource planning models to identify competency, knowledge and talent gaps and develop specific programs for filling the gaps. Develop staffing strategies and implementation plans and programs to identify talent within and outside the organization for positions of responsibility.Establish and coordinate training programs that address company needs across division lines.Define all HR programs and authority/responsibility of HR and line management within those programs.  Provide necessary education and materials to line management and employees; workshops, manuals, employee handbooks and standardize reports.Select and coordinate use of HR consultants, insurance brokers, insurance carriers, retirement administrators, training specialists, labor counsel and other outside resources.Conducts a continuing study of all HR policies, programs and practices to keep executive management informed of new developments. Requirements:Has overall responsibility for the HR department.Responsibilities include:  interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving programs.Meet with direct reports one on one to review priorities and maintaining a working knowledge of your groups’ customer issues or activity, cross-training methods to continually develop skills of staff.Coach to continually develop skills of staff members.  Plan ahead to deliver outstanding annual staff reviews by providing regular feedback, address training issues and make adjustments to give staff the tools they need.Additional Responsibilities:Manage budget and otherfinancial measures of HR department.Select, develop, evaluate and lead a department of professionals with a goal of earning a high level of credibility as an effective and responsive resource to the organization.Evaluate HR department’s structure and team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as providing individuals with professional and personal growth with emphasis on opportunities for individualsServe as Affirmative Action OfficerCoordinate community events, company sponsored events and volunteer activities.Ensure all confidential records are properly secured and maintain privacy of customer account information.Work directly with examiners, auditors and legal counsel as needed.Assist the President as directed.Perform other duties as neededQualifications:Bachelor’s degree from accredited university5-8years in senior level HR positionGeneral business and financial knowledgeHR Generalist background with broad knowledge in: employment, compensation, organizational planning, employee relations, training and developmentKnowledge of company strategy, federal and state regulations and compliance and operational managementWorking knowledge of Microsoft Software packagesStrong management skillsAbility to facilitate; experienced in resolving conflicts between partiesHR Certifications:  SPHR, SHRM-SCP
