Seeking knowledgeable candidates to support Union Telephone’s MCM microwave network alarm management system. Responsibilities include: Providing technical assistance to MCM users of computer and network facilities. Determine the root cause of user/network problems and solve them. Develop specifications, set up, configure and provide support for desktop, laptop and server computer equipment including operation systems, hardware, software applications and peripheral equipment. Change and upgrade existing hardware and software. Will work closely with Company’s IT Department. Support complex PCs and LAN/WAN networks that exist within the MCM department. Interface with IT and users, consultants, technical teams and vendors for maximum guidance in determining the most appropriate type of hardware installation. Research, test, evaluate, configure, and recommend telecommunications and data network systems. Visit vendors to learn about available products or services. Write technical specification to send to vendors for bid. Oversee or assist in installation of communications hardware and perform minor equipment repair. Identify areas of operation that need upgraded equipment, such as routers, switches, and network capacity. Read technical manuals and brochures to determine equipment that meets established requirements. Analyze test data and recommend hardware and software for purchase. Develop and write procedures for installation, use, and solving problems of communications hardware and software. Monitor system performance. Design and develop complex software interface programs. Instruct users in use of equipment. Troubleshoot and solve live system outages.
Employee may work out of the Cheyenne, WY office or Mountain View, WY office.

Compensation depends on experience and is based on national market data.
Advanced knowledge and experiences in the area of local and wide area networking, communications and related hardware and software. Must be willing to travel locally and overnight 10% of the time. Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record. This position is subject to 24x7 call duty and emergency call out.
Bachelor’s Degree (BS)from a four-year college or university in computer science, MIS, or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preference will be given to those with experience or certifications: CCNA, Tellabs/Coriant 8600 Router, OSPF, Coriant/Tellabs 7100 Switch, MPLS, PWEE, and IT QOS. Acceptance testing and Implementation of listed Platforms. Preferred: CCNA-SP, Help Desk Level Support experience, TDM to IP network conversion experience, IP Microwave provisioning, Experience or Knowledge of DWDM Fiber equipment and testing, TDM understanding a plus, Familiarity or experience on Cisco, Juniper, Force 10, other Routers, Switches, Mux, and Cell Cabinets, Server Administration on Lynx and Windows Platforms.
