We are accepting applications for a Tower Technician with at least 1 year of climbing experience who is open to travel. The Tower Technician installs, repairs and maintains wireless antennas, antenna systems, and related cell tower site structures; performs tower maintenance; works irregular hours and travels extensively throughout the assigned region. Performs related duties as assigned.

Essential Job Functions:
• Installs, maintains, repairs, removes, or retrofits antenna systems equipment and power systems (e.g. antennas, microwave dishes, feedlines, ice shields, etc.), sometimes under adverse conditions (e.g., high towers, inclement weather, remote sites, etc.) to maintain operational communications throughout the region using safety equipment and hand, power, and specialty tools.
• Operates construction equipment (e.g. ditch witch, 4-wheel drive vehicles, hydraulic/electric winches, fork-lifts, etc.) to dig holes, inspect guy wire anchors, load/unload communications equipment and supplies, and install/remove communications equipment using safety equipment and clothing, and hand tools (e.g., hard hat, seat belt, etc.).
• Interprets various documents (e.g. blueprints, diagrams, manufacturer specifications, etc.) to ensure proper installation of antenna systems using technical expertise, and knowledge of blueprints and diagrams.
• Installs tower foundations and erects towers using construction and rigging equipment, and earth moving machinery.
• Installs tower hardware and accessories to maintain, repair, and retrofit antenna systems equipment in order to support communications system operation using fixed and portable power tools and welding equipment.
• Keeps records and assures that maintenance is performed on trucks and construction equipment.
• Receives, inventories, inspects, ships, and delivers parts and supplies to locations throughout the state/region in order to promptly provide necessary parts and supplies to co-workers.
• Assists as needed in maintaining remote communication buildings and towers and antenna systems to ensure continuance of communication systems using specialty machines and equipment (e.g. paint sprayers, carpentry equipment, meters, A/C gauges, pumps, etc.).
• Transports heavy equipment to work locations including remote mountaintops to perform functions of the job using appropriate vehicles (e.g. 4-wheel drive vehicle, snowcat, trailer, tractor, crane, fork lift, etc.).
• Create detailed documentation of work performed.
• Operate electronic diagnostic equipment (e.g. digital voltmeters, Time Domain Reflectometers [TDR's], Wattmeters, etc.).
• Interpret blueprints, diagrams, and schematics.
• Test and troubleshoot mechanical problems.
• Operate survey instruments (e.g. compasses, engineering, line-of-sight propagation instrument, mirrors, transit, etc.). Calculate and verify point to point path loss for receiving signals.

• High school diploma preferred

Required Skills and/or Experience:
• Five or more years work or military experience preferred, with two or more years in tower industry strongly desired;
• Tower fall protection, OSHA 10, First Aid/CPR and radio frequency safety training certification preferred or ability to pass coursework to obtain certification (required);
• Basic knowledge and training in the hazards associated with tower climbing, construction equipment, and working on or near energized lines and equipment, and appropriate safety precautions and equipment.
• The proper care and use of personal protective gear (e.g. hard had, climbing belt, steel-toed boots, etc.);
• Operating welding equipment to fabricate tower hardware;
• The basic care and use of hand and power tools;
• Operating heavy construction equipment (e.g. ditch witch, snowcat, forklift, 4-wheel drive truck, trailer, crane, backhoe, front loader, etc.);
• Excellent written and oral communications skills;
• Intermediate computer literacy;
• Excellent work ethic, with drive and organizational skills to work unsupervised;
• Must have a valid driver's license with a safe/acceptable driving record in compliance with company policy (5 years of history);
• Ability to work hours outside of normal schedule with little or no advance notification required;
• Excellent customer service skills, with ability to solve problems and maintain positive attitude;
• Must be comfortable interacting within all levels of company and customer organizations;
• Must be able to pass background check;
• Must successfully pass a Pre-employment substance abuse test;
• Must comply with SiteMaster’s drug and alcohol policy;

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
1. Ability to consistently climb tall structures (100 feet or more) with 50 lb. load to perform work at altitudes of 300+ feet.
2. Ability to consistently lift heavy objects (up to 40 pounds).
3. Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
4. Availability to work irregular hours and/or respond to emergency call-outs on a 24 hour basis.
5. Ability to travel extensively.
6. Applicant/Employee’s weight and tools combined may not exceed 280-pound weight limit as specified by the manufacturer of safety equipment.
7. Applicant/Employee’s waist circumference must not exceed 60 inches measured at the navel as specified by the manufacturer of safety equipment.
8. Must be in good physical condition with the ability to bend, twist, squat and lift 50 lbs. and pull his/her own body weight plus equipment weight up a vertical tower repeatedly for long periods of time.
