Ensure the completeness and accuracy of accounting records by maintaining accurate and timely general and subsidiary ledgers through journal entries, the balancing of subsidiary system inputs, and a timely monthly close process. Complete the work order closing and capitalization process and record capital asset purchases and retirements. Examine ledgers and transactions for accuracy and conformity with established accounting practices and Part 32 rules.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Maintain accounting records including general ledger and subsidiary system inputs, calculate accruals, review journal entries, and reconcile general ledger accounts • Oversee the work order process and communicate with all departments including sales, network operations, engineering, plant, and billing to gather accurate costs and ensure proper revenue recognition • Complete the work order closing and capitalization process by moving construction-in-process to capitalized assets that include inventory, labor, and secondary distribution costs • Maintain continuing property records (CPR’s) by accurately recording all capital asset purchases, creation, depreciation, and retirements • Create and maintain loan and lease repayment schedules for entry into the accounting system to ensure accuracy and conformity with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and Part 32 classifications • Maintain and supply audit data and schedules as requested by external auditors for year-end company audits and income tax preparation • Maintain and provide cost study data and schedules as requested by NECA and the cost consultant engaged to perform annual cost studies • Accurately and timely accrue, prepare and remit property and excise tax returns and oversee the preparation of payroll and sales taxes • Oversee the preparation of payroll and establish procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable state and federal payroll laws • Review data and schedules to ensure accuracy and completeness for the settlement process and reporting requirements mandated by the FCC, NECA, USAC, state commissions, and other regulatory agencies • Review monthly financial transactions to ensure accuracy, completeness, and conformity with GAAP and Part 32 classifications • Review accounting and bank records exchanged via electronic record exchange and review bank and credit card reconciliations • Implement accounting policies and procedures and monitor internal controls and make recommendations for improvements • Aid CFO in preparation of budgets and financial statements following GAAP and Part 32 rules • Aid CFO with other duties as assigned
• Review and monitor the quality of work, answer questions, resolve workflow issues, and aid timely completion of department activities • Assist in staff training to ensure proper company, department, and internal control procedures are followed
• Required – either, three or more years of full-time telephone accounting experience, or three or more years of full-time experience with NISC iVUE accounting (ABS and CC&B) modules • Required - Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office products
