Job Purpose: The primary responsibilities of the fiber optic cable splicer will be to splice fiber optic cables, read, create and maintain splicing plans and diagrams surrounding the assigned work site. Maintaining accurate splicing and field notes to support project timelines.
Duties and Responsibilities: • Install OSP facilities according to engineered work orders or service orders • Perform cable/fiber splicing • Provide additional support to the supervisors as needed
Physical Requirements: • Typical field related physical requirements of sitting, standing, driving and walking. • Ability to lift 75+ lbs
Direct Reports: None Pay Definition/Metrics: Non Exempt - Hourly
Qualifications: • 3+ years’ experience with single mode, multimode fiber and campus fiber splicing • 3+ years splicing ribbon and single fiber • Ability to travel and work on call, evenings and weekends as needed • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions • Experience with fiber pulling using air assist a plus • Experience with SUMITOMO equipment preferred • Experience with high count and rollable ribbon a plus • Current certification in splicing a plus • Must pass a background check and drug screen • Valid driver's license required
